KVK, Thoubal is a knowledge dissemination centre with a mandate of Technology Assessment, Refinement and Demonstration on wider application and to enhance Capacity Development (TADA-CD). The effectiveness of the KVK is enhanced by activities related to OFT and FLD on major agricultural production technologies in order to make the training of farmers’ location specific, need based and resource oriented. It imparts vocational skill training to the farmers and field level extension functionaries in the field of agriculture and allied. The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Thoubal, since its inception on 16th November 2005, vide Letter No.: 9-1/2000-AE-1 dated 20th October, 2005 under the Zonal coordinating unit, Zone VII, Umiam, Meghalaya, has been working under the host institute of Department of Agriculture, Manipur.
Though presiding district has been divided into two viz., Kakching and Thoubal district, vide Order No.: 16/20/2016-R of 8th December, 2016 of Manipur Gazette, Govt. of Manipur, the KVK Thoubal has been working in both the districts till date.
The KVK has been endeavoring for the improvement of livelihood for the marginal and small farmers in the district. The KVK has been working for the betterment of farming community with the intervention of latest agricultural and allied technologies to the farmers/farm women, rural youth/school drop outs and extension personnel of the district through mandated activities. Further, the KVK has been bringing out innovative farmers from time to time and are being promoted through documentation by making them participate in different agricultural fairs, innovative farmers’ meets and other related programmes at State and National level.
